"Eternal Koi" Story
Irezumi, the art of Japanese Tattoo, dates back many centuries. It was greatly influenced by ukiyo-e woodblock printing and Kabuki Theater, incorporating many of the symbols and images from both art forms.
Legend states that fish who pass through the Dragon Gate rapids of the Yellow River in China become immortal dragons, and live in eternal happiness. Only the koi, or carp, has been able to achieve this amazing feat. The koi, therefore, symbolizes strength, courage and endurance, as well as eternal happiness.
